After Senegal's victory against Mali, Idrissa Gana Gueye spoke in the mixed zone and emphasized the importance of team spirit.
“It’s normal, we knew what was at stake in this match, especially against our Malian brothers, who wanted to beat us and make history. But we didn’t fall into their trap: we stayed focused from start to finish,” said the Senegalese midfielder.
Gana Gueye also emphasized the team's discipline and vigilance: "In previous matches where Mali received a red card, we had to learn lessons and not repeat the same mistakes."
When asked about his energy at 36, he said: "We thank God, we work hard and we pray for the health and energy to continue. But what's most important is that the whole team has worked well. No matter who plays, everyone contributes."
Finally, he emphasized the importance of preparing for the semi-finals: "No calculations, we need to stay focused on ourselves, correct our mistakes, recover well and prepare for the next match."
