Ahead of the Grand Magal of Touba, commemorating the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Khadimou Rassoul, scheduled for early August 2026, a local development committee (CLD) meeting was held yesterday in Touba, chaired by Ndam Sub-prefect Abdoulaye Kharma. The gathering brought together department heads and members of the organizing committee, including its coordinator Serigne Ousmane Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma.
During the meeting, the sub-prefect stated that close collaboration has been underway with all stakeholders; each sector has presented its needs, and responses deemed satisfactory for the religious event have been provided.
He clarified that this meeting marks the start of a series of consultations at the departmental, regional, and national levels, with a final evaluation planned under the supervision of the Minister of the Interior.
Abdoulaye Kharma assured that all necessary local arrangements will be made, while unresolved issues will be escalated to the appropriate authorities. "The Senegalese government is committed to ensuring the Magal takes place under excellent conditions, without any shortcomings," he declared.
