Gitex 2025 : Quand le Maroc projette son avenir digital sur la scène mondiale
The 45th edition of Gitex Global brought together more than 180 countries to explore the promise of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. But in this global arena of innovation, Africa remains a distant second. Morocco, for its part, stands out as one of the continent's few representatives, with a delegation of fourteen companies supported by the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).
For Mouiiz El Alami, head of the digital and outsourcing department at AMDIE, this presence is part of a long-term strategic vision. "Gitex is already a brand we believe in a lot. We've been bringing our companies here to Dubai for a good ten years, organizing the presence and the Moroccan pavilion, and we believe it's the ideal platform to access the Gulf market," he says.
This market, according to him, "is full of potential, because these are countries that are digitalizing in a spectacular way."
This year, fourteen Moroccan companies make up the delegation. "We could find companies that develop artificial intelligence solutions, others that work in cybersecurity or development. They have diverse profiles, but they have one thing in common: they are Moroccan tech SMEs," explains Mouiiz El Alami.
Beyond simple international visibility, this approach by the Moroccan authorities is directly in line with a logic of growth and transfer of expertise. "Our goal is to be able to internationalize these companies to enable them to grow," says the AMDIE representative. "We want them to benefit from the experience of the global players present here so that they are even more innovative and then contribute to the digitalization of their country, Morocco, but also of our African continent."
The Moroccan agency aims to leverage technology as a driving force for sustainable and inclusive development. "Digital technology is the future for every country around the world. It is therefore essential that we give it great importance and have national champions in this sector," he says.
Gitex Global, considered the world's largest technology trade show, represents a strategic showcase for Morocco. "It's a brand that enjoys great global recognition and allows us, as an institution and as Moroccan companies, to have visibility in the Middle Eastern market, a priority and strategic market for us," added the head of AMDIE's digital department.
Within the Moroccan pavilion, some companies proudly embrace this ambition. This is the case of Geo4Net, a company specializing in geolocation and intelligent vehicle tracking solutions. Its marketing manager, Sanaa Tmitam, details the company's expertise: "Our company has been present in Morocco since 2006. We have more than 35,000 vehicles installed in Morocco and Africa, with ten servers. We specialize in geolocation, GPS tracking, fleet management, and on-board cameras."
Its product is primarily aimed at companies with a fleet of vehicles. "Our solution allows us to track vehicles, their journeys, distance traveled, and even fuel consumption. Onboard cameras, equipped with artificial intelligence, alert users if the driver is drowsy or not wearing a seatbelt," she says. Geo4Net also offers in-cab tracking to secure transported goods.
The company, already present in several African countries, is expanding its network beyond the continent. "We have resellers in Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, and other African countries," says Sanaa Tmitam, adding: "We are here in Dubai to find new partners, particularly resellers, to strengthen our regional presence."
