Krépin Diatta sur la décision de la CAF :«Quoi qu’il arrive je me sentirai champion d’Afrique»
Following Senegal's friendly victory against Peru on Saturday at the Stade de France, Krépin Diatta praised both his team's performance and the unwavering support of the Senegalese fans. The Lions' defender first reassured everyone about his fitness.
“I feel good, thank God. I’m happy to be here and to continue to progress with this team. The most important thing is the present and I’m happy with this victory. We are satisfied even if there are always things to improve as always. But we won and we are happy, especially in front of such a Senegalese crowd,” he says.
"The Senegalese people are everywhere, wherever we go, to support us, and that's not easy. That's what makes us proud to be Senegalese. We really thank the public," adds the AS Monaco player.
When asked about the controversial decision of the African Football Confederation's appeals jury, declaring Morocco the winner of the AFCON, he preferred to adopt a measured stance, referring the management of the matter to the governing bodies.
“This decision may be surprising, but the most important thing is that we have leaders who are taking care of it. We did what was necessary for a month and the whole world saw that we won this trophy with dignity. Whatever happens, I will feel like an African champion for life and my teammates feel the same way. Now, the final decision belongs to the CAS and we will let them handle it,” he said.
