La DER/FJ lance le « Fonds Rose » pour soutenir l'autonomisation des femmes atteintes de cancer
“You are not alone”: this was the message of hope delivered to Senegalese women affected by cancer at the launch of the Rose Fund on March 25, 2026, at the King Fahd Hotel in Dakar. This initiative of the General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Youth (DER/FJ) aims to support these women in their fight against the disease while preserving their economic activity.
During the ceremony, financial partners, including Wave, announced concrete contributions totaling 100 million FCFA to support this initiative, marking a strong commitment to the economic empowerment and social resilience of vulnerable women. Aïda Mbodj, Director General of DER/FJ, emphasized that the Rose Fund is not simply a source of funding, but rather a tool for economic continuity and social resilience for women facing illness.
The president of the association of women cured of cancer, Gnilane Faye, gave a poignant testimony on the daily difficulties of patients, emphasizing the double battle these women are waging: fighting against the disease while supporting their families and maintaining their income-generating activities.
According to the Director of Health, Professor Ousmane Cissé, cancer not only affects health but also impacts the social and economic lives of women and their communities. He praised the Rose Fund as a successful example of collaboration between public and private stakeholders.
The ceremony was marked by the symbolic presentation of a check by Wave, representing the first contribution to the Rose Fund. Other partners also confirmed their financial support, ensuring that the fund can support women with illnesses during their treatments while also supporting their economic projects.
The Rose Fund aims to be a model of inclusion, solidarity and resilience, combining health, economy and civic engagement.
