Matar Sylla, Président du Comité de pilotage du SIMA : « Le Pari de l’organisation et de la vision a été tenu pour une première édition »
The International Media Fair of Africa (SIMA), held from October 27 to 30, 2025, in Dakar, Senegal, under the theme "Africa Facing New Media Challenges," saw the participation of 23 countries and the presence of four African ministers: Mr. Alioune Sall, Minister of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital Affairs of Senegal; Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information of The Gambia; Mr. El Houssein Ould Medou, Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament of Mauritania; and Mr. Daniel O. Sando, Deputy Minister of Communication of Liberia. In this exclusive interview with Seneweb, the coordinator of the SIMA Steering Committee provided a mid-term assessment of this major international event in Dakar. According to Mr. Matar Sylla, the organizers' goal and vision of "uniting Africa through media" was achieved for this first edition. He believes that "the objectives of this International African Media Fair have been largely met."
However, the coordinator of the SIMA Steering Committee highlighted some difficulties in securing the necessary funding for this four-day event.
