SOS VIllage d'Enfants : Une nouvelle crèche moderne voit le jour à Sacré-Cœur pour les enfants vulnérables
The SOS Children's Village of Sacré-Cœur inaugurated a new nursery on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. This new facility significantly increases its capacity, from about ten to approximately 35 or 40 children. The renovation and equipment project, financed to the tune of approximately 25 million CFA francs by Eiffage SA (the concessionaire of the Autoroute de l'Avenir highway), is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.
For SECAA SA, its Deputy Managing Director, Pathé Ndoye, emphasized that this project addresses a vulnerable population and aligns perfectly with their CSR pillars, particularly social responsibility and education. He also indicated that the company plans to strengthen this partnership through a long-term agreement with SOS Children's Villages.
According to Papa Daouda Diop, the national director of SOS Children's Villages Senegal, this initiative is part of a broader transformation of the organization's intervention model. Historically focused on providing care in family villages, the organization is now evolving towards a more diversified model to address the increasing complexity of vulnerabilities. New programs have been integrated, including emergency shelters for street children and support mechanisms to help young people achieve independence.
This evolving model, however, faces new challenges, particularly in a context marked by increasing financial constraints and declining external funding. This situation reinforces the importance of partnerships with the national private sector, which have become essential for maintaining and developing vital services for children.
