Thiès : Babacar Diop salue le succès du défilé du 4 avril et évoque les attentes des populations
To mark the 66th anniversary of Senegal's independence, the city of Thiès hosted the April 4th parade, a decision made by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. This choice raised questions about the city's organizational capacity, particularly given the perceived short notice for preparations.
But in the end, the gamble paid off. The mayor of Thiès, Babacar Diop, made no secret of his satisfaction with the smooth running of the event. "We thank God for making this celebration a success," he declared, praising the strong turnout of the local population.
According to him, this event demonstrated that Thiès has the necessary capacity to host events of national, and even international, importance. He described the organization as unparalleled, while also paying tribute to the commitment of the people of Thiès to the honor of their city and their country.
Beyond the success of the festival, the mayor reiterated the expectations of the people. He indicated that a book of grievances had been submitted to the Head of State on behalf of the residents of Thiès. However, he noted that the President of the Republic had not yet addressed these demands in his official speech.
Babacar Diop nevertheless expressed hope that these concerns would be taken into account before the end of the presidential visit to the railway capital.
