Thiès : Le lycée Malick Sy a accueilli la cérémonie officielle de lancement du Projet Édupolsen

The Malick Sy High School in Thiès hosted the official launch ceremony for the Edupolsen Project (Senegalese Police Education) on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. This project aims to prevent violence and delinquency through civic and citizenship education in schools.

An initiative launched during a flag-raising ceremony at the Malick Sy high school in Thiès. "We are gathered this morning to officially launch the Edupolsen project, in preparation for the national holiday on April 4, 2026," declared Chief Superintendent Safiatou Mbaye, who is also head of the regional public security service in Thiès.

The police commissioner explained that "Edupolsen" is a project based on a two-pronged approach: "bringing the police to the school and bringing the school to the police." According to her, "it will be about a Senegalese national police force that will not only react to problems, but will choose to act upstream, aiming to prevent rather than punish."

The representative of the Director General of the National Police added: "This is an ambitious initiative in shaping the role of the police officer and their relationship with Senegalese citizens." She also announced: "Officers will regularly visit the students to share topics such as respect for the symbols of the Republic, road safety, violence and addiction prevention, the dangers of the internet, and the republican values that underpin our society."

This, she emphasizes, also means that "we will open the doors of our police stations, our services and our barracks, so that you can discover our professions, meet our officers and understand our daily lives. We want you to see the National Police not as a distant, inaccessible force, but as an institution at the service of all, made up of men and women committed to your safety and well-being."

The head of the regional public security service noted that "the National Police, which has always played a role in the civic education of our youth, is thus reaching a new level." According to her, "The project will strive to help students become responsible citizens, aware of their rights but also their duties, while instilling in them a culture of peace, respect, and solidarity." She continued, explaining that the Edupolsen project is not solely a police initiative. It is the result of a partnership between institutions united by the same mission: to educate the citizens of tomorrow, the police official stated, without providing further details on the identity of the partner entities involved.

The principal of the El Hadji Malick Sy high school in Thiès emphasized the symbolism of raising the colors, namely "an act of great significance, a moment of reflection, respect and communion around the values that underpin our nation".
