Vision Sénégal 2050 : Le DG Serigne Ndiaye accélère le déploiement de PROMOVILLES dans les villes secondaires
The Urban Modernization Program (PROMOVILLES), a key pillar of Senegal's territorial equity policy, is accelerating its efforts in the Thiès and Louga regions. Under the leadership of its Director General, Serigne Ndiaye, the program officially signed partnership agreements with the municipalities of Méckhé and Kébémer. Developed in close collaboration with local authorities, these large-scale projects aim to sustainably open up isolated neighborhoods, eradicate the endemic problem of dilapidated roads, and optimize stormwater management.
For the director general, this step marks a decisive turning point in the work of the organization he leads. “With the signing of these agreements, we are officially launching new large-scale projects in Méckhé and Kébémer. Our ambition remains unchanged: to structurally transform the face of our inland communities through resilient and modern infrastructure,” declared Serigne Ndiaye. Beyond the asphalt, each road construction project includes a significant sanitation component (reinforced concrete gutters, PVC pipes, or drainage networks) as well as the deployment of solar streetlights to enhance nighttime safety for residents.

In Méckhé, the ambitious modernization plan involves the construction of 4.94 kilometers of fully improved and lit roads. The construction projects will target key routes connecting the neighborhoods of Mairie - Grande Mosquée, Keur Mame Anta - Oumar Mbengue - Keur Maguette Seck, Nguéwuel - Tannerie, Keur Khassida - Industrial Zone, and the Fish Market - RN2 section. To support this urban transformation, PROMOVILLES is funding a significant package of basic social infrastructure: a multipurpose community center, a six-classroom school, a health post with a maternity ward, a multi-functional sports area, and the rehabilitation and expansion of the women's center in the municipality.

In Kébémer, the momentum is just as strong with the planned construction of 3.54 kilometers of modern roads. Road infrastructure and public lighting will transform the daily lives of residents in the R30 - Mbacké Kébémer Mosque, R30 - Tobi Diop, Médina Fall - Ndakhar Sylle, and RN5 - Diamaguène health post sectors. Like its neighboring municipality, Kébémer will benefit from the construction of a multipurpose center, a new school complex with six classrooms, a sports complex, and a community center for local women's groups.
