Les demandeurs de visa originaires du Malawi et de Zambie devront verser une caution pouvant atteindre 15.000 dollars pour entrer aux Etats-Unis

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump will initially require visa applicants from Zambia and Malawi, two African countries, to post a deposit of up to $15,000 for certain tourist and business visas, the State Department announced Tuesday.

"Beginning August 20, 2025, any citizen or national traveling on a passport issued by one of these countries and who is otherwise determined to be eligible for a B1/B2 visa will be required to post a security deposit in the amount of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000, determined at the time of the visa interview," the State Department said in a notice posted on its website.

This requirement is part of a pilot program scheduled to begin August 20 and run through August 5, 2026. It will apply to nationals of certain foreign countries who apply for a B-1 or B-2 visa for business or tourism travel to the United States. These visas generally allow for a maximum stay of six months, but extensions are permitted in certain cases.

The list of countries may be modified throughout the program, according to the notice.

"This requirement applies regardless of where the application is made," the notice states, adding that "a deposit does not guarantee the issuance of a visa and if a person pays a fee without being asked to do so by a consular officer, that money will not be refunded."
