«Il était très brutal et agressif avec les bébés» : un professeur de maths, qui affamait ses jumeaux de 6 semaines, interpellé

An American math teacher accused of starving and abusing his six-week-old twins was arrested and resigned from his position at Parrish Middle School in Oregon on Tuesday, August 26.

Reece Alan Sorenson, an American mathematics teacher at Parrish Middle School in Salem (USA), was taken into custody two weeks ago on suspicion of physical abuse and starvation of his six-week-old twins and resigned from his post on Tuesday, August 26.

The babies were taken to a local hospital on August 10 because the girl was having difficulty swallowing. According to court documents seen by the Salem Reporter, the father admitted to authorities that he stuffed a cloth in the baby's mouth to stop her from crying for about three minutes. A medical examination revealed that she had bruises and bleeding under her tongue.

His twin brother suffered 10 broken ribs and bruises around his eyes after allegedly being squeezed with his forearms by the man, who is also a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also allegedly "forcefully pressed" his knuckles against the child's stomach to force him to release gas.

“Very brutal and aggressive”

A doctor at Salem Hospital reported that both infants were severely malnourished, describing them as "starving." Both babies looked away from staff while being fed and jumped when people approached their faces.

"During the interview, he also stated that he had an anger problem and that he became frustrated very easily with the twins," police wrote.

His partner corroborated all the allegations, saying the teacher was "very rough and aggressive" with the babies and that she "didn't think they were safe with them if they were alone."

The results of the tests were reported to the Oregon Department of Human Services, which then contacted the Salem Police Department.

The teacher, arrested on August 13, was released the following day with a ban on contacting the victims. Accused of criminal mistreatment and unlawful use of a weapon in the alleged abuse, he will appear in court on September 4 for his hearing.

A license that expires on August 31

"I know what I did, and I completely regret it, and I regretted doing it before all the consequences started to hit me, it's not who I am, it was a mistake," he told the Salem Reporter.

Since his arrest, he has said he has been taking therapy classes to "improve" his anger management.

After being placed on administrative leave by the Salem-Keizer School District on August 18, he submitted his resignation on Tuesday, August 26. His teaching license expires on August 31, according to state records.
