80 maisons impactées à Thiès : Birame Soulèye Diop cherche des solutions aux inondations

Birame Soulèye Diop promises aid to flood victims in Thiès, where 80 homes have been identified as having been affected by the heavy rainfall of Friday, August 22, with approximately 169 mm of rain, causing flooding in neighborhoods located in basins.
During a field visit to certain sites, the former mayor of Thiès-Nord praised the combined efforts of administrative authorities and local elected officials, who agreed to provide assistance to the affected populations.
"We understand very well that in Thiès, there are areas made up of basins where there are no water drainage facilities," according to Minister Birame Soulèye Diop. He praised the "understanding" shown by the population and highlighted the efforts already made to rid certain areas of water.
He believes that in some cases it was not a question of flooding, but of the importance of the rains that fell and which needed some time to follow the normal course of their evacuation.
Birame Soulèye Diop particularly insisted on the mechanisms to be implemented, within 48 hours, to provide solutions, in terms of food support, mattresses, disinfectant products, but also the provision of additional pumping equipment to support the "extraordinary work being done by the firefighters and municipal teams."
