On August 9, 2025, the Dakar-Plateau Commissioner, Mass Thiombane, in collaboration with the Senegalese Hiking Federation (FSRP), organized the first edition of the Dakar-Plateau police station hiking event. Under the theme "The practice of sport, a factor of social cohesion and well-being," this initiative is part of the sports policy of the General Directorate of the National Police (DGPN).

"This theme was chosen to demonstrate how the national police, through sporting activities, can strengthen its ties with the population," said Commissioner Thiombane. He called on citizens to collaborate more closely with the police to ensure the safety of people and property. He also expressed his gratitude to the DGPN, the central police station, the public security directorate, and partners for their contribution to the success of the event.

Papa Saliou Sall, president of the FSRP, welcomed the initiative: "We all have an interest in working with the police to improve the security of our goods and services." He called for the hike to be included in the federation's national calendar: "We hope this event will become an annual tradition within the Dakar league."

The hike, which brought together the Prefect of Dakar, the Director of the Autonomous Port of Dakar, commanders, national police authorities, and Dakar league clubs, covered a 7-km route through the capital's arteries. The route began at the National Assembly roundabout, passing through Lamine Guèye Avenue, Georges Pompidou Avenue, Independence Square, Station Square, Macky Sall Avenue, Sandaga roundabout, Peytavin Avenue, the General Directorate of Customs, Roosevelt Avenue, Diambar Avenue, and Pasteur Avenue, before returning to the starting point.
