Beach Wrestling : les Lions décrochent trois médailles d'or à Alexandrie
The national beach wrestling team distinguished itself at the African Championships held in Alexandria, Egypt. Led by coach Abdoulaye Thiam, known as "Laye Ndiombor," the senior Lions nearly achieved a perfect record and took the lead in the overall standings thanks to a haul of four medals.
Senegal notably secured three continental titles. Serigne Faye, nicknamed "Fallou Mbin Diab," triumphed in the 80 kg category against an Algerian opponent. Siny Sembène dominated the 90 kg category against a wrestler from Burkina Faso, while Ngagne Sène confirmed Senegal's supremacy by winning the over 90 kg category against an Egyptian, in front of his home crowd. Only Cheikh Sadibou Sarr (70 kg) had to settle for silver after a defeat in the final against a representative of the host country, reports Record.
Buoyed by this performance, Senegal enters the rest of the competition in the top spot. The events continue this Monday with the entry of the U17 categories, where the young wrestlers, both boys and girls, will try to extend this winning momentum, according to the sports daily.
