The Grand-Yoff district police station announced the arrest, on March 17, 2026, of a basketball coach suspected of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old minor.

According to the police, this procedure follows a complaint filed on March 12 by the parents of the victim, a fifth-grade student and player in the club run by the accused. The complainants claim they were alerted by third parties to incidents of sexual abuse that occurred during a basketball tournament held in Mbour in September 2025.

Heard in the presence of her guardians, the young girl confirmed the facts. She stated that she had been forced to spend several nights in her coach's tent during their stay in Mbour, and maintains that she suffered abuse on at least five occasions.

When questioned, the suspect admitted to sharing his tent with the minor and offering her food, but he denies any sexual relationship.

The suspect was taken into custody for questioning. The investigation is ongoing to substantiate the charges against him.

Comment un parent responsable peut laisser sa fille de 11 ans partir dans une autre ville pendant des jours? Des tournois de baskett pour les à 11 ans?. Certains parents méritent la peine de mort.
