Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain have secured their third consecutive Champions League victory. Away in Germany, the Parisians crushed Bayer Leverkusen (7-2). This resounding victory allows Luis Enrique's men to occupy first place in the standings, a position they share with Inter Milan. The Lombard club went on to win in Belgium against Ousseynou Niang's Union Saint-Gilloise (4-0).
Another Senegalese international to have a difficult evening was Pape Guèye. The midfielder and his club, Villarreal, were beaten by Manchester City (0-2).
At home, Newcastle edged José Mourinho's Benfica 3-0. In the Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven put on a rousing offensive display against Napoli 6-2. Led by Viktor Gyökeres' brace, Arsenal made short work of Atlético Madrid 4-0.
Borussia Dortmund beat Copenhagen 4-2 on the road to Denmark. Kairat Almaty and Pafos drew 0-0 in the duel between the two sides.
