Mido (légende du foot africain) sur la décision de la CAF : "C'est le plus gros scandale du football"
Reactions are pouring in following the CAF's decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco by default. Egyptian football legend Mido, winner of the 2006 AFCON, has harshly criticized the Confederation of African Football.
"CAF is a complete farce! I've been saying it for years! I've even stated that most of the African legends involved in CAF events and meetings are clowns. The decision to take the Cup away from Senegal and give it to Morocco is the biggest scandal in football history, a decision that will only divide Africa," wrote the former player who notably played for Olympique de Marseille and Tottenham.
Mido also took a swipe at the CAF president, South African Patrice Motsepe. "Well done to Motsepe! You've all made us look like what some Westerners want us to be! We now resemble a continent of idiots and corrupt people. Africa deserves better! There needs to be a revolution in African football! All these people must leave, and today, not tomorrow!" he exclaimed.
In his post, the Egyptian also had a few words for the Moroccans. "I'm not against Morocco. I love Morocco and Moroccans, and I have many Moroccan friends whom I love and deeply respect, but come on, guys, that's enough! You lost on the field. Senegal was the better team in the final. They deserve to be African champions, it's clear and simple, and you all know it! I really wanted to congratulate my Moroccan friends, but I can't congratulate you on something you won in the office and not on the field!"
