Diomaye Faye-Ousmane Sonko : deux DG, deux curieuses attitudes
In this context of tensions between President Diomaye Faye and Pastef, led by its president, Ousmane Sonko, every action of the directors general, board chairs, and other heads of public companies is being closely scrutinized. Some expect the staunch supporters of the "Patriot-in-Chief" to resign as a sign of loyalty, since he was dismissed from his position as Prime Minister by the Head of State. Two directors known to be pro-Sonko have not resigned, but since their party leader's removal, they have adopted a curious stance.
Les Échos, which made the observation, did not reveal the identities of those involved. The newspaper reports that one of them, whom it refers to as a "feddayeen of the Pastef leader," "hasn't set foot in the National Assembly since" the dismissal of the current president. "No one has seen his shadow, let alone his car," the newspaper insists.
The other Sonko supporter in question, a subsidiary managing director, according to L'Échos, hasn't abandoned his office. He's still present, but appears transformed in the eyes of his staff. "This managing director, who used to display a visceral contempt for his colleagues, has changed in the last ten days or so. His subordinates can't believe it," the newspaper exclaims. "Whereas before they waited for people to greet him, even if they found them at their workplace, now he's the one going around to the offices shaking everyone's hand. And all with a broad smile."
