Thiès: The FDR disapproves of the regime and calls for opposition unity in the face of political challenges

Meeting in general assembly this Saturday in Thiès, the Front for the Defence of the Republic (FDR) launched an appeal for mobilization and unity of the opposition, while denouncing attacks on public freedoms.

The national coordinator of the FDR, Dr. Oumar Sarr, explained that this assembly was held as part of a tour to visit all 14 regions of Senegal in order to meet with local officials and prepare for upcoming political events. He emphasized the need for unity among opposition forces in the face of the current government.

During his address, Dr. Oumar Sarr acknowledged the support of Idrissa Seck, who hosted the meeting at his headquarters. He also mentioned the support of former President Macky Sall, commending his commitment to the movement and expressing his best wishes for its success on the international stage.

The FDR coordinator also denounced what he considers to be attacks on freedoms, particularly the arrest of certain political figures. He cited the cases of Maodo Malick Mbaye, Farba Ngom, and Moustapha Diop, arguing that these situations pose a democratic problem.

"There is no democracy without freedom," he stated, calling for an end to what he considers unjustified detentions, as well as respect for the rights of political actors and journalists.

Regarding the electoral process, Dr. Omar Sarr expressed his opposition to any modification of the electoral code without consensus. He indicated that the FDR intends to engage in consultations with civil society and political parties to defend this position, particularly in the context of the debates surrounding Ousmane Sonko's eligibility.

Finally, he called for the mobilization of Senegalese people, particularly young people and women, to face current challenges and defend democratic principles.

Through this national tour, the FDR aims to strengthen its presence on the ground and to unite political forces around a common agenda.

Ils sont seulement mus par le sort de leurs copains Apéristes en prison. Pression sur la Justice et manque de respect. Durant 12 ans de Putain de slogan " gestion sobre et vertueuse", Ils ont bouffé l'argent du Peuple Sénégalais " fatigué".
