Bah Oury : « Les élections sont programmées pour cette année, Inch’Allah »
Guinean Prime Minister Bah Oury reaffirmed this Wednesday, September 24, at the Palais de la Colombe, the holding of elections before the end of 2025. During a press conference, the Head of Government spoke on several major issues, including electoral questions that are generating lively debate among public opinion.
An expected confirmation
Asked about the date of the elections, the Prime Minister was keen to dispel any ambiguity: "As you know, the President of the Republic had already indicated at the beginning of 2025 that 2025 would be an election year. The constitutional referendum is a consultation of the people of Guinea. We have just taken this step. So the elections will be scheduled for this year. Inshallah," declared Bah Oury.
The referendum as a preliminary step
For the head of the Palais de la Colombe, the organization of the recent constitutional referendum represents a major step forward in the political process. According to him, this popular consultation now paves the way for the actual holding of elections, in accordance with the agenda announced by the Head of State in his speech of December 31, 2024.
A strong expectation
This confirmation comes as public opinion and political actors questioned the feasibility of organizing the elections within the announced timeframe. By reaffirming the government's commitment, Bah Oury sought to reassure the authorities of their determination to respect the electoral calendar.
