Coup d’Etat en Guinée-Bissau : La réaction du Nigeria
Umaro Sissoco Embalo is no longer the president of Guinea-Bissau. He was deposed yesterday, Wednesday, November 26, by the military. This coup, which comes the day after the general elections in the country, has not gone unnoticed in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, Abuja said it had received the news with "deep consternation and grave concern".
A "flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy"
He calls for "the immediate restoration of constitutional order and full respect for the sanctity of democratic institutions in Guinea-Bissau." The Nigerian government considers this coup a "flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, which explicitly rejects any seizure of power by unconstitutional means."
He therefore urges military officials to show restraint and let the electoral commission proclaim the results of the general elections.
Furthermore, Abuja is asking the coup leaders to ensure the safety of those arrested and the election observers still present in the country.

Ce vieux Président n'a pas du le courage d'intervenir au Niger en étant pas leader de la Cdeao. Il a mis dans le coma cet organisme déjà Machin depuis. Et ils ont desserré les sanctions économiques contre les états de l'AES. Et plus personne n'a peur de faire un coup d'État. L'ancien Président du Niger est en train de moisir en Prison, oublié.
