Guinée-Bissau : Accusée de corruption, la CEDEAO sort du silence

The ECOWAS Chiefs of Staff Committee (CCDS) has firmly rejected the corruption allegations relayed in recent days against some members of its delegation on an official mission to Guinea-Bissau.

In a statement released on June 24 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the military body of the sub-regional organization described these allegations as "completely false, unfounded and devoid of any factual basis".

The accusations, widely circulated in some media and on social networks, alleged an attempted bribery involving members of the delegation during their stay in Guinea-Bissau from June 19 to 23, 2026.

The CCDS affirms that none of its representatives have been approached, received any offers, or participated in any act of corruption or illicit inducement. The institution also emphasizes that no complaints, reports, or evidence have been brought to its attention or to that of the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB).

According to the statement, the authorities of Guinea-Bissau, as well as the management of the Bissau Royal Hotel, where the delegation was staying, also refuted these accusations. The hotel stated that it had received no complaints regarding the behavior of the mission members and asserted that their stay had proceeded normally.

The committee also emphasizes that its mission has achieved its objectives, notably through consultations with national authorities and various stakeholders on the implementation of the revised mandate of the ESSMGB, its operational needs as well as the gradual process of staff reduction and withdrawal.

Reaffirming its commitment to the principles of professionalism, integrity, transparency and accountability, the CCDS calls on the media and relevant actors to demonstrate rigor in the handling of information relating to regional peace and security.

The delegation finally expressed its gratitude to the authorities of Guinea-Bissau, to the officials of ESSMGB and to all stakeholders for their cooperation during the mission.

Peut-être qu'il ne s'est rien passer en Guinée Bissau mais la CEDEAO n'est point digne de confiance.
