Le Kenya va construire la première raffinerie de carburant d’aviation durable (SAF) en Afrique
In Kenya, the national airline Kenya Airways signed a memorandum of understanding with Rubis Energy Kenya on Tuesday, May 12, for the establishment of Africa's first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) refinery. The formalization of this preliminary agreement took place in the presence of Kenyan President William Ruto and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
Aviation fuel will be produced from available local resources
The construction of this refinery will require an investment of 60 to 70 million euros, or approximately 10 billion Kenyan shillings. It will have a production capacity of 32,000 metric tons of SAF per year.
It must be said that aviation fuel will be produced from locally available resources.
The refinery will therefore process used cooking oils and tallow, as well as animal fats, and transform them into viable aviation fuel through a series of advanced processes.
