L'Union africaine a salué les progrès enregistrés dans le processus de paix en RDC
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, welcomed the progress made in the peace process in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly in terms of humanitarian access, the release of prisoners and monitoring of the ceasefire.
These developments follow talks held in Montreux, Switzerland, between the Congolese government and the AFC/M23 movement, as part of mediation efforts related to the Doha process. They should allow for rapid and safe humanitarian access and the release of detainees within ten days.
The African Union calls on the parties to fully respect their commitments, finalize outstanding protocols, and continue the dialogue to reach a lasting solution. It also welcomes Qatar's mediation efforts and the support of international partners engaged in this peace process.
