During African Occupational Risk Prevention Month, the King Fahd Palace Hotel hosted the National Employers' Council (CNP) conference this Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Under the theme "Managerial Action in OSH: Mastering Occupational Safety and Health Management System Principles and Practices," the event brought together authorities, social partners, and experts to discuss protecting human capital and enhancing business performance. The goal is to promote a prevention culture, improve workplace organization and environment, while encouraging personal development.

In her address, the representative of the Minister of Public Service and Labor, Ms. Ramatoulaye Niang Fall, commended employer organizations' mobilization and the Social Security Fund's (CSS) support. She highlighted profound transformations in the world of work, marked by the rise of artificial intelligence, remote work, and climate change impacts, which generate new occupational risks.

Ms. Niang Fall emphasized the need to consider workplace safety as a strategic lever for competitiveness and sustainable development. She reiterated that employers remain primarily responsible for prevention, requiring visible, consistent, and structured commitment. The Labor Ministry has implemented new tools under the National Occupational Safety and Health Program to support businesses.

Meanwhile, CNP Vice-President Meissa Fall stated that business competitiveness cannot be separated from worker protection. He raised alarm about the continent's critical situation: Africa accounts for approximately 18% of global fatal workplace accidents, while representing less than 3% of global wage employment.

In response, Meissa Fall called for rigorous standards enforcement, enhanced OSH training, and safety integration into corporate governance. He also acknowledged trade unions' involvement and reaffirmed Senegalese employers' commitment to the success of the 24th World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, scheduled for Dakar in April 2027.
