Violente descente à la faculté de Médecine de l'UCAD : Des étudiants étrangers ciblés, un étudiant sénégalais blessé en tentant de s’interposer
A serious incident occurred last night at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry of the University of Dakar, according to a statement from the faculty's student association. The statement asserts that a group of individuals stormed into the study rooms and targeted international students.
"Indeed, a group of individuals raided the revision rooms to attack foreign students, resulting in the injury of a Senegalese student who tried to defend them. The association strongly condemns these acts, which in no way reflect the values of coexistence within the university community," reads the statement from Cheikh Atab Sagna, president of the association.
The exact circumstances of the attack remain unclear, but the events have deeply shocked the academic community.
Claiming to be the sole legal and representative body for all students of the Faculty of Medicine, without any distinction, the student association condemns in the strongest possible terms these acts, which it considers contrary to the values of coexistence, tolerance, and solidarity that underpin university life. It also expressed its full support for the injured student and pledged to assist him in any legal proceedings he deems necessary.
Finally, the association calls for calm and responsibility from all, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to defending the material and moral interests of students, without distinction of race or nationality.
