Immigration : les expulsions d'Algériens visés par une OQTF ont repris, selon une association
After a year's interruption linked to the diplomatic crisis between France and Algeria, the expulsions of Algerians targeted by Obligations to leave French territory (OQTF) have recently resumed, according to Cimade.
The end of a long hiatus. While 2025 was marked by an unprecedented deterioration in diplomatic relations between France and Algeria, the situation now appears to be calming down. Indeed, according to the migrant rights organization Cimade, deportations of Algerians subject to an Obligation to Leave French Territory (OQTF) have recently resumed.
According to the same source, contacted by AFP, "two Algerians, detained in the Rennes administrative detention center (CRA), were deported yesterday (Wednesday)." The first person deported arrived in France in 2024. He had been detained for two months at the administrative detention center (CRA). The second had been in France for 40 years. He is a father of three adult children living in France and is married to a French woman.
A resumption of "a demanding dialogue" with Algeria
According to Cimade, in Toulouse, at another detention center, a consular laissez-passer was issued last week by Algeria. A flight to that country is scheduled. For the time being, the Ministry of the Interior, contacted by AFP, has not confirmed this information.
It is worth recalling that the last readmissions by Algeria of its nationals in an irregular situation under OQTF dates back to the beginning of 2025.
In an interview with AFP, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced earlier this week that the resumption of a "demanding dialogue on migration and security with Algeria" had produced its "first results".
For his part, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had advocated appeasement with Algiers, whose relations with France deteriorated in 2024 when France recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, a territory whose status is undefined according to the UN.
Since then, tensions and provocations have multiplied, ranging from the arrest of Boualem Sansal in November 2024 to the expulsion of twelve agents from the French embassy in Algiers in April 2025.
