Iran : pendaison de deux hommes accusés de travailler pour Israël
Two men accused of spying for Israel were hanged in Iran on Saturday, Iranian authorities announced, the latest executions since the start of the war with Israel and the United States.
"Yaghoub Karimpour and Naser Bekrzadeh were hanged for intelligence and espionage cooperation on behalf of the Zionist regime," wrote Mizan, the press organ of the judiciary, without specifying the date of the arrests.
According to the same source, Mr. Karimpour was found guilty of the capital crime of "moharebeh" ("war against God" in Persian), for "filming and photographing security and military sites and transmitting these images to an agent of the Mossad," the Israeli foreign intelligence service, during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June 2025.
Mr. Bekrzadeh was also executed for cooperating with Mossad. According to Mizan, which does not specify when the events took place, he transmitted information on "religious and provincial figures, as well as on important centers such as the Natanz region," which houses a key nuclear site.
Arrests and executions have been increasing in the country since the start of the conflict triggered by an American-Israeli attack on February 28.
According to human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, Iran is the country that uses the death penalty the most after China.
