«2 milliards F CFA pour Me Wade» : Cheikh Amar et Samuel Sarr vont se…
The case between Cheikh Amar and Samuel Sarr will be heard in a special session before the Dakar High Court this Thursday. The dispute between the two men dates back to 2014. The businessman claims that the former minister asked him at the time to provide financial assistance to Abdoulaye Wade, who had lost power two years earlier.
He brandished 2 billion CFA francs which, according to the prosecution, never reached the pockets of the former head of state. "Confident in this, he will eventually initiate criminal proceedings in October 2021 to recover his funds," recalls L'Observateur, which revisits this case in its Thursday edition.
The case was handed over to the Dakar Research Section. Samuel Sarr acknowledged making the payment, but maintained it was a down payment on a 7 billion CFA franc debt owed by Cheikh Amar to Wade. He claimed he had been tasked with collecting the debt.
The former minister will be charged and placed under judicial supervision. He will counter-attack by filing a complaint against the businessman for attempted extortion, forgery and use of forged documents, and slanderous denunciation. Furthermore, as L'Observateur reports, he brandished a document before investigators listing the names of religious figures, politicians, journalists, and lawyers to whom he allegedly paid the 2 billion francs, on Wade's instructions.
The criminal court will examine this case this Thursday.
