Affaire Farba Ngom : la Cour suprême s’en mêle
The Farba Ngom case has reached the Supreme Court. As promised, Les Échos reported this Thursday, the lawyers for the mayor of Agnams have filed an appeal with the High Court against the Indictment Chamber's decision keeping their client in detention while sending him to a hospital. The black robes are calling for the lifting of the APR leader's arrest warrant.
To this end, the applicants first approached the financial investigating judge in charge of the case, citing Farba Ngom's state of health. The latter requested an expert opinion and then a counter-expert opinion before making a decision. These concluded that the mayor was risking his life by remaining detained in prison.
Despite this, the investigating magistrate refused bail, agreeing to send the accused to the Special Pavilion. The defense lawyers are tearing their hair out and challenging the decision.
In its verdict, the Financial Indictment Division of the Court of Appeal upheld the arrest warrant but ordered Farba Ngom's referral to a hospital. Not satisfied with this order, the APR leader's lawyers appealed it to the Supreme Court.
