4 avril : Le Khalife de la famille Ndieguène parle de « fierté inestimable » pour Thiès
As the commemoration of Senegal's accession to international sovereignty approaches, the Thiès region is abuzz with excitement. In a solemn declaration, Serigne Mouhammadou Mounirou Ndieguène, Khalif of the lineage of Tafsir Elhadji Ahmadou Baro Ndieguène, delivered a powerful message to the Senegalese people.
For the first time in the country's history, the national festivities are leaving the capital to take place in Thiès. A choice that the Khalif welcomes with "immeasurable pride." Praising the region's strategic and mining importance, the religious leader sees it as a recognition of the pivotal role the city with its two train stations plays in Senegal's destiny.
He made a point of welcoming the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, stressing that he is "at home" within the Ndieguène family, while expressing wishes for success for his national projects.
The lesson of the "DAR": a reminder of political humility
The Caliph reminded everyone that all power is ephemeral, using the acronym "DAR" (Departure, Affection, and Retirement). "No position is eternal," he emphasized, urging those in power to prioritize serving the people over the allure of prestige. This governance advice resonates as a call for ethics and responsibility.
Addressing the youth, whom he considers his "adopted family," Serigne Mouhammadou Mounirou Ndieguène advocated a return to fundamental values. Faced with the prevailing "haste" and "materialism," he urged young people to draw inspiration from prophetic figures and to venerate their parents. "He who has God with him lacks nothing," he reminded them, quoting his late father, Elhadji Mouhamed Ndieguène (RTA).
A call for Thiès hospitality
As a fervent advocate for social cohesion, the Khalif invited the residents of Thiès and members of the Khadra to give the delegations a memorable welcome. He also commended the efforts of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport El Malick Ndiaye, as well as the local and ministerial authorities involved in the event's success.
The religious leader concluded his message with prayers for the sick and prisoners, while calling for the extinguishing of hotspots of tension throughout the world, hoping that this holiday would be an opportunity to "heal the fractures" for the good of humanity.
