Accusé de folie des grandeurs, Me Abdoulaye Tine dénonce une machination et saisit la justice
Targeted by a scathing front page in the newspaper Yoor-Yoor Bi on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, accusing him of extravagant "material demands" (an 87 million CFA franc Land Cruiser and a 2.6 million CFA franc rent), Abdoulaye Tine, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SOGEPA SN, exercised his right of reply. The lawyer not only denied the allegations but also launched a vigorous counter-attack and announced he would be filing a lawsuit.
From the outset, Mr. Tine described the published information as "biased and inaccurate accounts," asserting that "these allegations are false." In his clarification, he re-established the timeline: appointed on October 23, 2024, he took office on November 15.
It was at this point that he claims to have discovered the emptiness of the logistical resources attached to his position. His predecessor had "already left with the company car" and had been authorized to "keep the official apartment until June 2025." Decisions made, according to him, without his consent.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Tine explains that he simply requested "equivalent resources" to carry out his duties. When the Directorate General refused, he states that he took a drastic decision to avoid impacting public funds.
“I acted alone, at my own expense, by personally purchasing my vehicle,” he insists. The lawyer is keen to clarify that he could have used his authority as Chairman of the Board to authorize this expenditure, noting that the Board of Directors deliberates on budgets and that the CEO “executes, but cannot oppose, the decisions.” He says he consciously chose not to use this leverage.
For Abdoulaye Tine, this article is not a simple journalistic error but a targeted attack. He sees it as a "commissioned article" whose sole purpose is to "damage his reputation and honor."
Consequently, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SOGEPA announces he is launching a legal offensive. "I am filing a complaint today against your newspaper and against anyone involved in this scheme for defamation through the press and criminal conspiracy," he concludes in his letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of Yoor-Yoor.
