Al Amine Lo nommé PM : Guy Marius Sagna parle de "coup d'État contre Pastef"
Pastef MP Guy Marius Sagna reacted strongly to the appointment of Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo as Prime Minister of Senegal, replacing Ousmane Sonko.
In a message posted on his digital platforms, he said he met the new head of government in May 2018 during a debate organized by RFI on the CFA franc. At the time, Al Aminou Lo held a management position within the BCEAO and, according to him, defended the relevance of the West African common currency.
Based on this background, Guy Marius Sagna questions the political coherence of this appointment within a government stemming from Pastef, a party that champions a radical break with the past and monetary sovereignty. He believes this appointment raises concerns about the government's future direction, particularly regarding the CFA franc and relations with international financial institutions.
The parliamentarian goes further by mentioning a "break in course" and speaks of an "electoral heist" and a "coup against Pastef and its voters", while stating that he hopes to be wrong about the direction taken by the executive.
