Assemblée nationale : « absence systématique », Takku-Wallu et les députés non-inscrits dans le viseur de...
A meeting of the bureau and a conference of presidents, convened this Monday by the president of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, have put several sensitive issues back on track, including the proposed law relating to the sanction of parliamentary absenteeism.
A law rather than a regulation
Initially announced as a simple "office instruction," the measure has taken on a new dimension, ultimately becoming a bill deemed more binding. The bureau officially declared an "improved" version of the text admissible this Monday. While the principle had already been approved on April 9, Les Échos specifies that the text has since been revised to make it more effective.
Takku-Wallu and targeted non-registered voters
This reform is not limited to a general principle: it includes specific targets. Certain members of parliament from the Takku-Wallu Sénégal parliamentary group, including the Alliance for the Republic (the former ruling party) and its allies, as well as independent members, are particularly affected, according to the same source.
The newspaper points out that these elected officials are distinguished by a "systematic absence" from committee meetings and plenary sessions.
