« Brillant et sincère » : Seydina Oumar Touré sous le charme du discours de Diomaye Faye
The recent interview with the Head of State has sparked a wave of positive reactions, particularly within security and legal institutions. Seydina Oumar Touré, Director General of the Community Policing Assistance Agency (ASP), extended his warmest congratulations to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for a performance deemed "as brilliant as it was sincere." According to the ASP director, the President's consistency and firmness mark a decisive step in the quest for a truly independent judiciary in Senegal.
In his analysis, Seydina Oumar Touré emphasizes that a justice system free from all political control is the fundamental guarantee of legal security for every citizen, including those who wield power. He reiterates an essential institutional truth: that power, by its very nature transitory, "cannot replace the rule of law." By establishing this principle of separation of powers as a guiding principle, the Head of State, in his view, is working to strengthen institutions and protect future generations from the abuses of arbitrary rule.
Beyond the official function, it was the ethical dimension of the speech that particularly struck the director of the ASP. According to him, during this address, it was not only the highest magistrate who spoke, but a man "deeply committed to the values of justice and fairness." Seydina Oumar Touré believes that this speech conveys a vision where impartiality and equality before the law remain the pillars of a democracy he hopes will be peaceful, strong, and above all, credible in the eyes of the people.
