« Ça se sent, bien sûr » : Serigne Guèye Diop décrit l'ambiance en Conseil des ministres
In an interview with L'Observateur, the Minister of Industry, Trade and SMEs, Serigne Guèye Diop, speaks about the tensions between the supporters of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the loyalists of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
The departmental head of the "Diomaye Président" coalition in Mbour asserts that political divisions are barely visible within the government team. He states: "We don't think in terms of a Pastef government or a coalition. It's simply a government." The minister adds: "When you come to the Council of Ministers, you can't even tell who belongs to the coalition and who belongs to Pastef."
The former mayor of Sandiara acknowledges, however, the existence of disagreements at the highest levels of government, stating: "It's palpable, of course..." and that "there are disagreements in the way the state is run." He believes that differences in approach do indeed exist.
The interviewee for the Groupe Futurs Médias newspaper insists, however, that these differences do not affect the daily functioning of the government in any way, concluding that "it has no impact on us, our activity as ministers, in our government activities" because the essential thing is that "all of us ministers, whatever our side, are taking care of our work today."
