Candidature de Macky Sall à l'ONU : Bougar Diouf exige un soutien de l’État pour revenir dans la mouvance présidentielle
The president of the Union of Senegalese Pan-Africanists (UPS), Bougar Diouf, announced the party's withdrawal from the Diomaye President coalition. In a message posted on Facebook, he highlighted deep political and strategic disagreements within the coalition. The UPS president also expressed his concern regarding the lack of official state support for former President Macky Sall's candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Considering that this lack of support is inconsistent with the principles of patriotism and pan-Africanism that the UPS defends, he also questions the current diplomatic ambiguity, particularly with regard to the State's position on this candidacy and certain decisions related to Senegal's international representation.
Bougar Diouf also denounced a growing imbalance in the internal functioning of the coalition, which, according to him, marks the marginalization of some historical allies and the promotion of other actors.
He did, however, specify that a return to the coalition remains conceivable, if several political conditions are met, including official and public support from the State for Macky Sall's candidacy, the restoration of internal political justice and a clarification of the President of the Republic's political vision.
