Me El Hadji Diouf
Appearing on Seneweb's broadcast, lawyer El Hadji Diouf was questioned on several current political topics, notably the potential eligibility of Ousmane Sonko for the 2029 presidential election. On this matter, the lawyer chose to cut the discussion short, adopting an unequivocal stance: "I will not speak on this subject, I am categorical," he stated, thus refusing to speculate on this political prospect.
In contrast, El Hadji Diouf was more forthcoming when asked about a possible integration into the coalition supporting President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. He clearly dismissed this possibility, citing deep-seated differences in convictions: "We do not share the same convictions, I do not think I will join them, that will never happen," he asserted.
The lawyer also reacted to the current political dynamic, which he described as marked by a form of duality at the top of the state. He said he is not surprised by this situation, recalling that he had previously warned about the risks linked to a configuration where the president would not have full political control. To support his analysis, El Hadji Diouf cited precedents in Africa, notably in The Gambia, arguing that certain political experiences have shown the limits of this type of governance. He finally emphasized that Senegal now seems to be moving towards a form of "gentle cohabitation," which he considers a new political framework taking shape in the country.
