« Ceux qui insultent le Président.Diomaye Faye, ne...» (ministre)
In an interview with L'Observateur, the Minister of the Environment and Ecological Transition, Abdourahmane Diouf, positioned himself as a shield for the presidential institution. Leader of the Awalé party and member of the "Diomaye President" Coalition, he adopted a firm stance in the face of personal attacks targeting the Head of State.
He denounces a political strategy based on invective, believing it to be counterproductive. "In reality, those who insult the President do not affect him: they insult themselves. Those who try to humiliate him do not humiliate him: they humiliate themselves," he insists, condemning a lack of "civility" and "republican sense."
According to him, these excesses go beyond the scope of traditional political debate and constitute a form of irresponsibility. He regrets that some actors are "throwing a country they claim to love to the wolves," thus contributing to tarnishing its image in the eyes of the international community.
Abdourahmane Diouf downplays the idea of a necessary "end of the free-for-all," arguing that "there should never have been a free-for-all in the first place." The interviewee for the Groupe Futurs Médias daily newspaper remains confident about how the situation will evolve, asserting that these excesses will eventually fade away on their own: "The excesses will cease through the downfall of their perpetrators. And the Republic will survive."
