Consultations ministérielles : Les révélations de Dr Fatou Diouf sur les coulisses de son départ
The outgoing Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure, Dr. Fatou Diouf, announced on Tuesday the end of her participation in the Senegalese government. In a solemn public statement, she also revealed that she had declined an offer of reappointment from the Presidency of the Republic.
According to her statements, she was summoned on May 26, 2026, by the President's office for consultations regarding the formation of the new government. However, the minister claims she chose not to respond favorably to this request in her personal capacity, preferring to defer the decision to her political party, PASTEF.
"I respectfully invited my party to be contacted directly, in accordance with the rules governing our formation and respecting our collective discipline," she stated, emphasizing a logic of internal political consistency.
In her message, she expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, for the trust placed in her during her time in government. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to the party president, Ousmane Sonko, whom she described as a central figure in the current political dynamic.
The outgoing minister frames her departure as a matter of political and personal continuity. She also announces her return to academia, indicating her intention to resume her teaching and research activities.
“My commitment to serving Senegal remains unwavering,” she affirmed, mentioning the continuation of her public service in other capacities. She concluded her message by praying for the protection of Senegal and its people.
