Crise politique et économique : Le FDR tire la sonnette d’alarme et appelle à un sursaut national
In a statement released this Thursday, the Conference of Leaders of the Front for the Defense of the Republic (FDR) warned of what it called a "serious and unprecedented drift" in the current governance of Senegal. The opposition movement believes the country is experiencing "the most acute crisis in its history" and urgently called for a national mobilization.
A picture deemed dark and worrying
According to the FDR, Senegal has never reached such a level of fragility, not in 1962, 1968, 1988, or even 2021—periods marked by significant political tensions. The movement holds the PASTEF government primarily responsible, denouncing a "total" failure in both economic management and institutional governance.
Economy in crisis: a state “on the verge of bankruptcy”
The FDR accuses the government of plunging the country into a critical debt situation. In the space of twenty months, Senegal has reportedly become "one of the most indebted countries in Africa," exposed to the risk of default and predatory funds. The statement highlights several direct consequences of this situation: the state's increasing inability to honor its financial commitments; repeated delays in the payment of student grants; difficulties in settling debts owed to national companies; problems in the distribution of family security allowances; disruption of the peanut and horticultural campaigns; and an increase in taxes that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable populations.
An unprecedented institutional crisis
On the political front, the FDR describes an institutional climate as "disastrous." The statement specifically mentions the Prime Minister's public accusations against senior magistrates; the statements by a PASTEF deputy accusing the President of the Republic of preparing a "coup d'état" against the head of government; and accusations of undermining state security against the Prime Minister, which, according to the FDR, have been left "unaddressed."
For the movement, these tensions demonstrate a real internal implosion within the ruling party, the repercussions of which, it claims, could reach the entire country.
Call for a national awakening
For the past ten months, the FDR says it has raised numerous warnings and waged a campaign based on a platform that includes the defense of the Constitution and institutions and the "immediate and unconditional" release of all those detained for political reasons.
Faced with what it calls an "imminent catastrophe", the movement calls on all active forces to come together to "stop the excesses" that threaten national stability.
An imminent action plan
The FDR announces the continuation and intensification, in the coming days, of its actions aimed at mobilizing the population around what it calls a "saving surge." The movement thus invites Senegalese people to prepare for "sustained mobilization" in order to preserve, it says, the future of the country.

FRD DE MES DEUX... NON MAIS!!!!
Anta Babacar a demissionne de ce mouvement depuis longte,ps mais ca affiche toujours la meme photo. That's very lazy.
Wait and see approach
