Démission orchestrée, désordre institutionnel : L’Apr interpelle formellement le Pr. Diomaye
The dismissal of Ousmane Sonko and his swift installation as Speaker of the National Assembly have dominated the news. The National Executive Secretariat of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) denounces what it calls a "manipulated resignation of the Speaker of the National Assembly solely to allow the dismissed Prime Minister to seize control of the presidency."
For Macky Sall's party, this is a political maneuver, based on opportunistic arrangements and a distortion of the spirit of the institutions, which constitutes a real political and parliamentary breach of trust.
"The APR reiterates that the institutions of the Republic cannot be transformed into instruments for settling internal conflicts within Pastef, nor can they serve as a means of adjusting personal ambitions," it said. For the APR, Senegal cannot be held hostage by the clan struggles of a power structure in full implosion.
Faced with such a situation, the party calls on opposition MPs, democratic forces, civil society organizations and others, "to block, by all legal and democratic means, this attempt to confiscate institutions."
The APR also calls on the President of the Republic to fully assume the responsibilities conferred upon him by his oath and to "put an end to the institutional disorder, the weakening of the State and the worrying drift in the functioning of public authorities".
