Deux ans de pouvoir : La CDS étrille le régime Diomaye-Sonko, entre “leurres et désillusions”
The Confederation for Democracy and Socialism (CDS) has drawn up a harsh assessment of the first two years of governance by the tandem Bassirou Diomaye Faye-Ousmane Sonko.
In a press conference entitled "Two years of PASTEF power: between illusions and disillusionment", the organization denounced what it calls broken promises and disappointing management.
According to the CDS, out of 27 major promises made by the government, some of which were considered populist, 22 have resulted in failures (flops), four are in the process of being implemented, only one has actually been implemented.
The only measure that the CDS considers to have been implemented is the eviction of street vendors.
Iconic promises singled out
Among the commitments deemed unfulfilled or insufficiently advanced, the CDS cites in particular "the reduction of food prices, the renegotiation of mining and oil contracts, the registration of all two-wheelers (Jakarta and scooters), the reduction of the State's standard of living, the reduction of the salaries of senior officials, transparency in the awarding of public contracts, the definitive resolution of the flooding problem, the end of illegal emigration, the exit from the CFA franc, the criminalization of homosexuality, the abolition of certain provisions of the Penal Code, the end of controversial fishing contracts.
Furthermore, the CDS believes that these results reflect a significant gap between political commitments and their actual implementation. It also denounces what it considers excessive political communication, accusing the government of prioritizing announcements over concrete results.
