Diamniadio : Le ministre Amadou Ba en visite à la ZAMPA pour relancer le site dédié aux mécaniciens
The Minister of Culture, Crafts and Tourism, Amadou Ba, paid a visit to the Development Zone for Mechanics and Automotive Professionals (ZAMPA) in Diamniadio on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
This site, estimated at 15 billion CFA francs, designed to accommodate automotive sector artisans in a modern and integrated space, is part of the strategic projects intended to relieve congestion in Dakar and modernize mechanical craftsmanship in Senegal.
This initiative is part of the policy of decluttering Dakar and modernizing Senegalese craftsmanship in the run-up to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), a global event that must reflect the know-how, discipline and positive image of Senegal.
"We are making this visit to show that the decluttering is not intended to hinder the artisans. It is a necessity in the run-up to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), a global event that must reflect the know-how, discipline, and positive image of Senegal. The objective is to offer them a modern, formalized, and sustainable setting," said Amadou Ba.
An integrated and modern center
In his speech, the Minister of Culture spoke of the government's desire to transform ZAMPA into a state-of-the-art facility, including a continuing education center, an integrated medical center, state-of-the-art workshops, public restrooms, a technical inspection center, and even a pound. He also promised to make the facility operational as soon as possible.
"ZAMPA is an excellent project, but it hasn't been fully finalized. We came to see what remains to be done with AGTIP and other partners. We want to add essential services, define a clear legal framework, and allow artisans to practice under modern, formalized conditions," he says.
The ZAMPA project, which covers 50 hectares, aims to provide a framework that meets health and safety standards, while contributing to the decongestion of Dakar and the modernization of the automotive sector.
Consultation with craftsmen
At the end of the visit, Amadou Ba spoke with the craftsmen already installed on the site, collecting their complaints and reassuring them about the continuation of the project.
The minister also announced an upcoming meeting with professionals to accelerate the commissioning of the site and strengthen their involvement in the future management of ZAMPA.
