Diomaye Faye-Amadou Bâ : rencontre secrète, le vrai du faux
Amadou Bâ's party, Nouvelle Responsable (NA), denies any rapprochement between its leader and President Diomaye Faye. The rumor gained traction after MP Cheikh Bara Ndiaye claimed that the head of state and the former prime minister had met in secret. "No official source supports the existence of such a meeting," retorted Fallou Pouye, an NR official, when interviewed by L'Observateur. "This is clearly a falsehood, wrongly disseminated with the sole intention of causing harm and, unfortunately, likely to mislead public opinion."
Moïse Sarr, another voice of Amadou Bâ's party, sounds the same trumpet: in the columns of the newspaper of the Future Media Group, the former Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad believes that Cheikh Bara Ndiaye's declaration is unfounded and that, as such, it did not deserve so much attention.
Two months ago, as L'Observateur points out, the same rumor circulated about Amadou Bâ. Cheikh Oumar Hann, one of his lieutenants, spoke out: “We consider Diomaye and Sonko to be the true power brokers. We have no contact with this power structure and we have no ambition to join it before 2029. We are not in discussions with them, neither with a view to joining a government nor to consider any kind of alliance. Our sole focus remains winning power in 2029.”
