Divorce au sommet de l'Etat sénégalais : "Diomaye a un plan en 6 phases", selon le responsable jeunes de Pastef-France Pape Guèye
Invited to the digital media outlet "Décrypter l'Afrique" (Deciphering Africa), Pape Guèye, president of the Pastef-France youth wing, discussed the falling out between Senegalese President Diomaye Faye and his former Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. He believes that following this rift, the Senegalese leader will seek to weaken the political party, its leader Ousmane Sonko, and try to prevent him from running in the 2029 presidential election.
He will use the media to "spread the narrative of Pastef's isolation"
“Diomaye’s plan had six phases. Phase one, which he has completed, involved recruiting people from within Pastef. Phase two: he will remove Pastef directors general and replace them with other directors general who are either from Pastef or from the opposition who are favorable to him. Phase three: he will secure the recruits, that is, the ministers he has taken from Pastef, and showcase them to demonstrate their commitment to him. He wants to tell other Pastef members: ‘Come work with me like these people do,’” declared Pape Guèye.
The fourth phase , according to the politician, will consist of using the media to "spread the narrative of Pastef's isolation".
“Currently, he has separated digital from communication. What he will do is gain control of the press, and this will allow him to spread the narrative of the isolation of Pastef and Ousmane Sonko. And this is where the arrival of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and other Bretton Woods institutions is important. He will tell them: ‘Look! We have Pastef supporters, and on the other side, we have the radicals,’” the young political leader speculates.
"He will try within a year to make it impossible, or at least very difficult, for Ousmane Sonko to run in 2029."
The fifth phase , he continued, is the "judicial lock on Ousmane Sonko." He believes that within a year, the president will try to make it impossible, or at least extremely difficult, for Ousmane Sonko to run in 2029. The final phase of his plan will consist of "opening up to the APR, the opposition, and those within the system." The journalist reminded him that the president could also dissolve the National Assembly.
"If he dissolves the Assembly, he might combine the legislative elections with the local elections of 2027."
He agreed, believing that such a decision could well come in December 2026. “If he dissolves the Assembly, he might combine the legislative elections with the local elections, because in January 2027 we have local elections, and from December onwards, he could dissolve the Assembly. It’s a possibility. The president is very strategic. If he dissolves the Assembly, he will combine them with the local elections in the hope of perhaps clarifying roles. The Senegalese people will choose between Pastef and him,” declared the head of Pastef-France Youth.
