Enquête parlementaire sur les TRS : Takku Wallu dépose sa requête sur la table de El Malick Ndiaye
The Takku Wally Senegal parliamentary group has put its words into action. It has submitted its request for the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the Senegalese government's use of Total Return Swaps (TRS) financial instruments. The request was made via a letter addressed to the President of the National Assembly yesterday, Wednesday.
On March 31st, Ms. Aïssata Tall Sall, speaking from the TRS (Tax-Related Groups), stated that this "mechanism is known for its opacity and high risk." On the substance of the matter, the president of the Takku Wallu group indicated that the price to pay for this financial instrument "is very high in terms of discount and risk."
"Did the government give assurances to the recipient to guarantee payment of the swaps? If so, what were they? Why was this operation hidden from the National Assembly? And where do our discussions with the IMF stand? The minister's answers being far from sufficient, we are requesting the necessary clarifications through a parliamentary commission of inquiry," she said.
