FDR : Serigne Modou Habib Mbacké soupçonne Bamba Fall de proximité avec le pouvoir
Dissenting voices are beginning to be heard within the Front for the Defense of the Republic (FDR), the new coalition of the Senegalese opposition. At the heart of the matter: recent statements made by the mayor of Medina, Bamba Fall, during a meeting of the movement in his municipality.
Serigne Modou Habib Mbacké, the APR political leader in Darou Mousty, did not hide his discomfort with the stance adopted by the mayor of Medina.
According to him, Bamba Fall's remarks during this meeting have sown doubt about his position within the opposition. "His latest intervention leaves a bitter taste. It doesn't reassure us. He spoke as if to please President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Within the FDR, everyone is expected to play fair. Either you're in the opposition, or you support the current regime," he declared.
The APR official believes that the FDR must maintain a clear stance and fully assume its role as a counterweight to the government. In his view, opposition leaders should not try to shield the head of state from the difficulties the country is facing.
“We must behave like true opponents, and not engage in praising President Diomaye. We cannot absolve him of what is currently happening in Senegal. He was elected by the Senegalese people and remains primarily responsible to the sovereign people,” argued Serigne Modou Habib Mbacké .
