«Grogne sociale » : Marie-Rose Khady Fatou Faye recadre RFI
The Senegalese government has stepped forward to contest Radio France Internationale's (RFI) account of the social situation in Dakar. In a statement released on Thursday, government spokesperson Marie-Rose Khady Fatou Faye formally denied the existence of a "massive mobilization" that took place on April 8 in the Senegalese capital.
The government official denounced an "exaggerated" presentation of the facts, stating that the observed movements mainly concerned carriers engaged in a social dialogue process that was "still active".
According to her, these discussions have already led to "concrete progress", proof of an ongoing dynamic of consultation.
Returning to the overall framework of the negotiations, Marie-Rose Khady Fatou Faye insisted on respect for and implementation of the National Social Stability Pact signed in May 2025. A mechanism which, according to her, the RFI article had wrongly called into question.
In an economic context deemed "demanding", the government assures that it is pursuing its reforms "responsibly", while maintaining an "open and constructive" dialogue with social partners.
While reaffirming the executive's commitment to press freedom, the spokesperson finally called on the media, particularly RFI, to show more "rigor and professionalism" in the handling of sensitive subjects.
